Bonus Miles

Today was another long walk. Started at 6:40 and headed towards Eunate, a detour suggested by Brierly's guide. The church in octagonal form is really cool. Unfortunately it was closed until noon and I could only see the exterior.
From here there is an alternate route to Puente La Reina. However, I didn't navigate that quite so well and walking an extra 10 kilometers I found myself in some hill top village 6 kilometers south of of PLR. According to my hostel manager, it was Mendigorria, and he now feels very sorry for me... Perhaps I'll get a free drink!
Which meant a walk back on the main road. Found a few wild cherry trees to keep me walking and came to PLR about 11. Enjoyed a coffee and pastry before heading over the Pilgrims Bridge, built Iin 1170 and back on the Camino.

The additional 13 kilometers walked was spent mostly in farmland with the hot sun on your right. They say you can identify pilgrims by the tans on the right side of their bodies. Trying to avoid this I used my shawl as a huge sun shade and it provided great relief along with my well autographed hat.
I arrived in Lorca at 2:50 and saw the signs for Alburge and fresh paella. That was exactly what this pelgrina needed.
